Office Assistant
Job Description
Student Life Office Assistants (OAs) help keep the department functioning efficiently. They handle tasks ranging from answering telephones, scheduling meetings, greeting guests and performing clerical functions, such as filing, copying, and typing. In addition, Office Assistants support student activity programs and events. Some Office Assistants also work with the room reservations process. Students who work in these positions gain skills in organization, guest relations, problem solving, communication skills and handling multiple priorities.
Special Skills
Knowledge of Rutgers helpful, guest relations skills, computer skills, data entry, clerical skills, amiable personality, good judgment, proactive, attention to detail, punctuality, good oral and written communication skills. Some lifting of materials up to 20lbs may be required along with traveling between campuses.

Hours
Shifts are available during the hours of 8:00am – 5:00pm Monday through Friday. Additional hours may be available from 8:00am to 1:00am.
House Crew
Job Description
Student Life House Crew coordinates and executes set ups for meeting rooms and programming space at the Student Centers. They make sure all audio/visual equipment is set up correctly and all event/guests needs are addressed. Guests include students, staff, faculty and Non-University clients. House Crew ensures the building functions smoothly and maintains a safe environment for anyone coming into the Student Centers. Students who work for House Crew develop a variety of skills. These include guest relations skills, event planning / management, audio/visual, lighting skills, communication skills and teamwork.
Special Skills
Audio/visual equipment skills, guest relations skills, computer skills, amiable personality, good judgment, proactive, has attention to detail punctuality, some lifting of materials up to 40lbs may be required along with traveling between campuses.

Info Desk
Job Description
Student Life Information Desk assistants are the face of the Department and the University. These students greet everyone in a friendly and efficient manner. They need to be knowledgeable of what is occurring in the student center and the University. They answer telephones and a variety of questions from guests. Information Desk staff assists in opening and closing the building, monitoring the building for safety and assisting with any events/programs that occur in the building. Some Information desk assistants will sell concession items and learn how to use a register. Students working in these positions develop solid guest service skills, problem solving, communication skills, cash management skills and a vast knowledge of the University and Student Life.
Special Skills
Excellent guest relations skills, computer skills, attention to detail and punctuality required.

Technical Crew
Job Description
Working under the direction of the Manager for Technical Services these students will work in setting up light, video and sound for a variety of campus events. They will provide support to the building events. Students working on this crew will gain experience in many aspects of stage lighting and event technical support. While a back ground in these areas is preferred it is not required.
Special Skills
Excellent guest relations skills, attention to detail and punctuality required. Ability to climb a ladder and lift at least 30lbs and pull up to 100 lbs.
