“Before forming the Kaufman Zita Group in 2007, Ms. Zita was principal of the Princeton, NJ-based government relations firm Capital Public Affairs, Inc. (CPA) beginning in 2003. Ms. Zita first joined CPA as a Vice President in 2001. Prior to joining CPA, Ms. Zita served as Senior Director of the Chemical Industry Council of New Jersey, a trade association representing 100 chemical and pharmaceutical companies in the state. Among her accomplishments, she successfully negotiated passage of critical laws such as the Air Pollution Control Act, Industrial Site Recovery Act, Federal Regulatory Exceedance, and the Electric Discount and Energy Competition Act.
Prior to joining the Chemical Industry Council of New Jersey, Ms. Zita served as a Research Associate for the New Jersey General Assembly where she was responsible for legislation and policy development in several major issue areas including Health, Insurance, Independent Authorities, Education, and Senior Citizens and Social Services. Ms. Zita served as the legislative committee aide to these standing reference committees.
She began her career as a Legislative Assistant for the New York General Assembly. Ms. Zita worked for the Chairman of the Health Committee and the Chairman of the Small Business Committee.
In 2006, Ms. Zita was appointed by Governor Richard J. Codey to serve on New Jersey’s State Council of Developmental Disabilities. In addition, Ms. Zita served as Chairwoman of the Women’s Political Caucus of New Jersey – PAC from 2005 through 2007. She also serves on the Thomas Edison State College, John S. Watson Institute for Public Policy - Advisory Board.
Ms. Zita is a graduate of Syracuse University, Utica College and did her Masters studies at the University of Pennsylvania, Fels Institute of Government.”
