Kathy Tennar is the director of the System of Systems Engineering Center for Lockheed Martin(LM), Maritime Systems and Sensors(MS2) in Moorestown, New Jersey. In this role, she is responsible for ensuring her department has the appropriate skill set to provide system engineering capabilities in support of delivering quality products to LM MS2 customers. She is also responsible for maintaining a trained workforce in following business processes for the purpose of meeting and exceeding business commitments.
Ms. Tennar joined RCA in June 1981. This RCA division evolved into the current LM MS2. Until 1992, she has held various engineering positions within the Weapon Systems Engineering discipline. During that timeframe, the majority of her assignments were to work directly with the Navy customer supporting at-sea test events conducting analysis and evaluating system performance.
From 1992 to 1997, she held various first level management positions responsible for developing weapon system engineering algorithms and products to continue to enhance the Aegis Weapon Control Systems capability. In August 1997, Ms. Tennar became the director of the Weapon Systems Engineering Department. The department was responsible for designing, testing and delivering the Weapon Control Computer Program for Aegis Cruisers and Destroyers.
In 2000, Ms. Tennar started a new engineering center for the purpose of growing a System of Systems engineering skill base. The department initially conducted campaign and systems level analysis for key Lines of Business. Since that time the department has grown significantly and has taken on the added responsibilities of providing real-time and non-real time simulations, system architecting, requirements management and training products for maritime platforms.
Kathy graduated from Rutgers University with a BA in Applied Math in 1981. She received her MS from New Jersey Institute of Technology in 1987 and obtained a Systems Engineering Certificate from Stevens Institute in 2003. Kathy has 2 girls, ages 12 and 14. Her husband is a technical director for the Mission Systems business segment at Lockheed and a retired Naval Officer Reservist.
