New Student Orientation

New Student Orientation is a journey at Rutgers that helps facilitate the transition to a large University. The program will prepare students for the educational opportunities and integration into Rutgers' intellectual, cultural and social communities.

The Rutgers University Summer Orientation Program is an interactive two day session (with one night overnight) that provides essential information sessions, introduces concepts of college culture, and assists students in navigating buses, buildings, services and resources available on the five campuses in New Brunswick and Piscataway.

Forty spirited and talented student Orientation Leaders will serve as hosts and share their experiences with new students. Administrators and faculty will also be present throughout the sessions to answer questions and give advice about your educational future. Students can expect to develop a sense of community with other new students and make new friends.

Summer sessions begin in June and end in mid August. All students are expected to register and attend a Summer Orientation session. New students will be able to register for Summer Orientation through the Enrollment Pathway after May 1st, 2009.

Costs for Summer Orientation are included on the term bill, so separate payment is not necessary. Space for each session will be limited and availabe on a first-come, first-serve basis. Most sessions are open to all new students with other sessions designed for transfer students, out-of-state students, and students in the School of Pharmacy.

A detailed schedule, items to bring and travel information is available on the New Student Orientation website, nso.rutgers.edu.
