Dance Marathon

The Rutgers University Dance Marathon is New Jersey's largest student-run philanthropic event, and it has become one of the most anticipated events held at Rutgers. Over the past 10 years DM has raised over $1.3 million, with all proceeds going to the Embrace Kids Foundation (formerly the Institute for Children with Cancer and Blood Disorders), a non-profit organization that supports children with cancer and blood disorders. The Foundation is committed to enhancing the quality of life of the children and relieving the emotional, spiritual, and financial concerns of the patient’s families under its care throughout the tri-state area.

Dance Marathon is a university wide tradition that allows students to experience first hand what types of large-scale public good Rutgers students can unite to perform. It consists of a yearlong series of fundraisers and culminates with the Marathon at the College Avenue Gym. At the Marathon over 400 dancers pledge to raise funds and remain standing for 32 hours. Dancers, along with over 500 volunteers and countless visitors, are entertained by live bands, comedians, prize giveaways, games, sports, a mechanical bull, computer and internet access, various theme hours, and much more.

This year is the 11th Marathon, and we are working hard to make sure that this year is the most memorable one yet. Whether you participate with your fraternity, sorority, sports team, club, or with a couple friends, Dance Marathon could be the most rewarding experience you have during your time at Rutgers.
