Bed Race Results

On Saturday October 18th, 16 student organizations, fraternities, sororities, residence halls and sports teams participated in the first ever Homecoming Charity Bed Race. Teams decorated their beds the night before in a tent under Morrell Street and the races started at 8:30AM on Saturday morning. Teams were judged on their race speed, bed design/theme, team costumes/spirit and number of children's books collected for local schools and charities. In the end, the winning teams received donations to their organizations and trophies but the true winners were the children of our local communities, who will benefit from over 1200 new books in their community.

The Final Results:

1st Place: Women's Ultimate Frisbee Team

2nd Place: Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity

3rd Place: Sigma Beta Rho Fraternity

Burning Rubber Award (fastest bed) - Livingston Residence Life

Rollin in Style Award (best bed design) - Cabaret Theater

Sleep Tight Dressed Right Award (best dressed) - CAC Residence Life

Charitable Chariot Award (most books donated) - Sigma Beta Rho Fraternity (350 books)

The Department of Student Life, Rutgers University Programming Association (RUPA), Office of Fraternity and Sorority Affairs and Interfraternity Council would like to thank all the teams that participated in this inaugural bed race and encourage more organizations to get involved next year. Thanks for creating a NEW Rutgers tradition with us!
