Students for Environmental Awareness

  • SEA is a student organization founded around the ideas of environmental education, awareness, and activism. Without a sound understanding of environmental and social issues, students will not be able to make effective decisions that will benefit them in the long run. SEA, therefore, provides the needed outlet at Rutgers University for students to voice their environmental concerns, learn effective and creative ways to deal with their concerns, and educate others about these concerns.

Students for Justice in Palestine

  • Students for Justice in Palestine is concerned with social, political, cultural, and human rights issues throughout Palestine.
    Our mission is to shed light on injustices currently taking place in Palestine, as well as to empower students to elucidate truths and eradicate such injustices. SJP seeks to organize according to democratic principles in order to promote justice, human rights, liberation, and self-determination for the Palestinian people. SJP is dedicated to raising awareness through education by the means of guest speakers, forums for uncensored discussion, and various forms of artistic expression. We seek to provide a politically active voice for the diverse and marginalized Palestinian communities on campus. However, we do not limit our leadership or membership to these communities; we view the struggles in Palestine as issues of concern to all peoples, irrespective of race, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, religion, etc. We seek to work with other groups, within and outside Rutgers, as a means of promoting our positive mission.

Students Organizing Change in Society

  • The S.O.C.S. organization shall provide awareness and education about social injustices that occur both locally and globally to both Rutgers University and its surrounding communities in order to promote positive change and community involvement. S.O.C.S. offers students the tools to analyze and engage social justice issues pertaining but not limited to race, sexuality, sex, gender, socio-economic status, other identities and how they all intersect. Some specific topics S.O.C.S. aims to focus on include Islamaphobia, homophobia, immigration, the Israeli/Palestinian Conflict, poverty, racial profiling, other current events/issues as well as the modes through which social injustices are carried out.

Take Back the Night

  • To educate the community on gender-based violence. In addition to educating the community, this annual event is a call for the community to stand-up and speak-out against all forms of gender violence.

United Black Council

  • The purpose of this umbrella organization of all African, African-American and Afro-Caribbean student organizations of the Rutgers, New Brunswick campus is to strengthen and unite the student organizations that represent the aforementioned communities. The United Black Council will serve as a resource to said communities by providing relevant information to the student body and serving as liaison to the administration.

United Nations Club (Rutgers)

  • The Rutgers United Nations Club aims to extend knowledge on the United Nations issues within the Rutgers community. The club aspires to integrate the United Nations policies and programs into the Rutgers community through club activities and excursions. The UN Club provides a forum for Rutgers students to collaboratively learn about the United Nations and the millennium development goals through projects, presentations, discussions, activities, events, and trips. The UN club will meet bi-weekly to enhance student knowledge of global issues and promote global citizenship amongst students. In addition to meetings, the Club will promote awareness of any UN days of recognition and events, as well as work with other groups, organizations, and classes to organize field trips to UN related events. The UN Club intends to integrate United Nations issues into the social and academic life of Rutgers students, promoting involvement in topics that are relevant to its members. The UN Club will focus on one or two projects throughout the year based on United Nation Millennium Development Goals, or other UN missions. Through Rutgers University’s connection with the United Nations though the Department of Public Information, the UN club hopes to increase Rutgers student involvement in UN activities on a local, national, and international level.

Vegetarian Society of Rutgers University

  • To provide the vegetarian and vegan students of Rutgers University with a meeting place to allow for support and growth within the Rutgers vegetarian and vegan community by promoting and celebrating the numerous reasons for vegetarianism and veganism such as animal rights; personal health; environmental impact; and other various issues through meetings and community outreach activities.

Women's Center Coalition

Our aim is to support individual and collective women's voices through weekly organizational meetings. In addition, the Women's Center Coalition is the student organization that oversees the other student organizations that meet within this progressive space.

Womens Political Caucus

  • To provide support for the State Caucus and the National Caucus, specifically by: A) encouraging, educating, supporting, and promoting women in the political process on a multi-partisan basis, and to unite against discrimination against women in the political process; B) using the structures of the political parties to assure an equal voice for women in the decision-making process; C) rallying support for women candidates and candidates supportive of women and D) raising public awareness of issues and interest to women.

Young Americans for Liberty at Rutgers University

  • To train, educate, and mobilize youth activists committed to "winning on principle." Our goal is to cast the leaders of tomorrow and reclaim the policies, candidates, and direction of our government; To promote an understanding of and support for limited government principles within the student body of Rutgers University; To engage in debate and dialogue about libertarianism's meaning, political efficacy, and social desirability; To engage in political activism that upholds limited government principles both on campus and in the surrounding political community; To serve as a liaison between the administration and faculty and the members of the Young Americans for Liberty at Rutgers University.
