To diminish the stigma associated with the word suicide along with the stigma associated with mental illnesses. Facilitate collaboration with existing mental health resources. Participate in fundraising activities of the NJ chapter of AFSP along with our own fundraisers.

  • Behavioral neuroscience is the discipline focused upon investigating the neuronal circuitry that underlies human behavior. The purpose of the organization shall be to act as an interest group for those students interested in this field. The organization will serve to provide guidance to those students who wish to pursue a career in this research area. Students will be aided in suggestions of classes that would provide the student with the greatest survey of the field, instructed on how to seek out and secure research opportunities, and would be given tips on applying to behavioral neuroscience doctoral programs. This club, however, will not be exclusive to such students alone as all majors are welcome. More generally, this organization is meant for anyone that is interested or intrigued by the field and its implications on the understanding of human behavior. To further the discourse in this ever-changing discipline, the club will also act as a forum for discussions of current advancements and findings. We will read articles and scientific publications. In doing this, we will pay particular attention to the techniques used as well as the results obtained. We will also discuss the implications of such findings with respect to the future of behavioral studies and on society as a whole. Throughout these discussions, we will also thoroughly examine the behavioral neuroscience research that is taking place at Rutgers University to encourage student involvement in faculty research.
