NPHC is the governing body of 8 historically African-American fraternities & sororities at Rutgers University. The NPHC coordinates educational and service programming for the member chapters.

The purpose of the National Pan-Hellenic Council shall be the pursuit of the following objectives:
Membership in the National Pan-Hellenic Council shall be determined via the OFSA Recognition Policy.
The Council is lead by Executive Board Officers who serve one-year terms. Officers are elected by delegates from the Council's member organizations. Delegates are selected by their organizations and also serve one-year terms.
Men and women interested in joining an NPHC organization must meet the following minimum eligibility requirements for membership:
Note: Every NPHC organization has higher academic requirements. Specific eligibility information is shared with prospective members at fraternity/sorority Information Sessions, which are held throughout the academic year.
Attendance at NPHC meetings is required for all member organizations. In addition to the regularly scheduled meetings, the President may call Special meetings at the request of a member organization or as necessary.
