Purpose

• To cultivate and maintain the high ideals of each individual member chapter as well as the educational mission of Rutgers University
• To further cooperation among the recognized fraternal organizations of Rutgers University
• To establish cooperation and mutual understanding between the Greek community and the student body, faculty, and administration
• To engage in philanthropic activities, which serve the community and university;
• To participate in the process of educating members of the Greek community with respect to those standards set for the fraternities of Rutgers University.

Fraternity Recruitment

Men interested in becoming a member of an IFC fraternity must participate in IFC recruitment, commonly referred to as "rush". Upper class and Transfer students may become members at any time; freshmen men may not join until the start of their second semester. All students must meet the minimum academic eligibility requirements before being accepted for membership. Eligibility to join a fraternity is based upon ALL of the following:

• Completion of at least twelve (12) credits at Rutgers University (including E credits)
• A 2.0 GPA from the previous semester
• A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.25
• Currently enrolled as a full-time Rutgers University-New Brunswick student

Presidents Council

The legislative powers of IFC rest with the Presidents Council. The Presidents Council shall:

• Receive or initiate and then vote on legislation to maintain and/or execute the purpose and role of IFC and to enact and/or change IFC regulations and policies according to this Constitution and Bylaws; and
• Receive or initiate and then conduct regular business; and
• Meet bi-monthly in regular session during the Fall and Spring semesters at a time and location as determined by the IFC President and Office of Fraternity and Sorority Affairs and meet in special session upon the vote or written request of the majority of its members or upon the request of the IFC President, Office of Fraternity and Sorority Affairs, and/or Rutgers University; and
• Meet weekly during the election cycle; and
• Meet annually in an Election Meeting to elect the IFC President and Board of Directors of the ensuing term at a time a specified by the Executive Council and Office of Fraternity and Sorority Affairs.

Presidents Council Meetings

Regular meetings of the Presidents Council shall be held bi-monthly while classes are in session, excluding summer term.
