Multicultural Student Involvement (M.S.I.) within the university's Department of Student Centers is part of a compendium of units at the university dedicated to addressing the needs and concerns of students from diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds, various religious backgrounds, and variances in sexual orientation. The Office supports the university's commitment to diversity, involvement, and equity and assists in the development of multicultural understanding and appreciation.
Located in the Student Activities Center (S.A.C.) on the College Avenue Campus, Multicultural Student Involvement works in conjunction with the various cultural centers (Paul Robeson Cultural Center
on the Busch Campus, Asian American Cultural Center
on the Livingston Campus, and Center for Latino Arts and Culture
on the College Avenue Campus), multicultural student clubs and organizations, LGBT student organizations, umbrella student organizations (Asian Student Council, Latino Student Council, and United Black Council), as well as such units as the Office of Social Justice Education and Bias Prevention
, Committee to Advance Our Common Purposes, and the various relevant academic departments and centers at the University. In addition, the Multicultural Student Involvement coordinates the various cultural celebrations of the university, including Latin Heritage Month in November, Black History Month in February, and Asian Pacific American Heritage Month in April.
