Rutgers University Class Councils are comprised of 4 committees: Finance and Fundraising, Homecoming, Senior Week, and Spirit and Traditions. These four committees will have four representatives from each class year, with a total of 16 class representatives on each committee.
After selection of committee class representatives, there will be an in-body election for the following positions: President, Vice President, Vice President of Communications and Outreach, and Vice President of Finance. Each member selected to serve as class representatives will find out their committee involvement after in-body elections have occurred.
In addition to the above selection process, this year seniors from Cook College, Douglass College, Livingston College, and Rutgers College have the option to run for a position as their respective college class officer. More information about elected senior class officer positions, click here.
This committee will be responsible for creating and maintain budgets for each class year as well as the four class council committees. One of the main goals of the Finance and Fundraising committee is to develop and implement University-wide fundraisers that will benefit Rutgers students, as well as the class councils. The Finance and Fundraising committee will manage budgets for all classes, committees and events.
Every year students, faculty, staff and alumni unite to celebrate Rutgers University and our Scarlet Knights. The Homecoming committee is charged with planning and organizing events to celebrate each class year of students at the university. The Homecoming committee will also research other institutions comparable in size to Rutgers, and give suggestions and provide feedback to the Homecoming Planning Team about potential Homecoming events. The Homecoming committee will work closely with the Homecoming Planning Team to help implement a pride-filled Homecoming experience.
Senior Week is a long tradition at Rutgers University. It begins after finals have been completed. The Senior Week committee will create and implement university-wide events for all seniors to enjoy. Traditional events will be planned by the senior class officers, but work in conjunction with the Senior Week committee to highlight all senior week events.
The Spirit and Traditions committee will be responsible for preserving the history and traditions of Rutgers University. This includes upholding the traditions of the undergraduate colleges (Rutgers, Cook, Douglass, and Livingston). Programs and events designed to maintain the integrity of these traditions shall come from this committee. Spirit and Traditions committee will work to develop and implement new traditions at the university to be celebrated by all Rutgers University students.
